Sebastian Lewis Shaw

Born May 29, 1905
Died December 23, 1994

Sebastian Shaw is most widely known for his brief but mesmerizing performance as 'Darth Vader's face'/Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Return of The Jedi (1983).  Almost anyone now recognizes the image of Vader's battered, bald head, gasping behind the dismantled breathing apparatus. Most of Shaw's fan base stems from the Star Wars connection.

Born in Holt Norfolk, England. Primarily a stage actor for most of his career, Sebastian Shaw performed in dozens of films in the 30s and 40s, and had many television performances and films later in life.

Shaw married a theater actress named Margaret Delamere.  They had one daughter.  Margaret passed away in 1956.  Personal details are few.

He wrote several plays, and one novel, The Christening, in 1975.

A separate website could be devoted to Shaw's stage career, whose long-standing association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, spans productions from 1926 and 1966-1989.

This site was created by some dedicated fans who were outraged that Shaw would be replaced in Return Of The Jedi.  Upon researching Shaw and his filmography, it became clear that there was more to this man than Vader's Death Scene. His work in Jedi and other projects is documented here.
